All the authors have considered this medal as remembering the attempt of 1800 in Rue Sainte Nicaise. But it refers to the failed attempt of Generals Pichegru and J. Victor Moreau in 1804, because of the date "year III", since Napoleon had been named President of Italian Republic in 1802.

Nel campo, a s., le tre Parche sedute; a d. il Destino seduto, volto a s., tiene con la mano d., forbici, in atto di reggere sulle gambe e di proteggere l'urna di Napoleone; in basso, a d., sotto il taglio dell'esergo: L. M. Contorno a piatto e gola.

Nella bibliografia consultata, ad eccezione del Comandini, la medaglia è unanimemente attribuita al 1800, in occasione del fallito attentato parigino a Bonaparte, pur essendo datata all'anno III e Napoleone figuri nella qualifica di presidente della Repubblica Italiana che era stata fondata solo nel 1802.
