...REVERSE. - An allegorical representation of the British driving the French across the Pyrenees into France. The French Eagle is retreating before the British Lion, who had dispossessed the former of the fulmen, or power possessed on the South side of the Pyrenean mountains. Round the face of the Medal is this legend - "THE ENGLISH ARMY PASS THE PYRENEES." On the exergue, "1813." |
