Antonio Onofri was one of the two Captains Regents of the Republic of San Marino from 1th Oct. 1796 until 1th April 1797. After the entry in Bologna, Napoleon ordered to the Republic of San Marino to deliver him the bishop of Rimini. Onofri, not only did not obey but also obtained grain for the Republic, refusing the Napoleon's offer of new territories. This refusal granted the maintenance of the Republic's indipendence in 1815.
